The Accounts Clerk will report to the Accounts Manager. The Accounts Clerk is an entry level position. The role entails an undertaking of a range of basic financial and administrative tasks. The role operates in a team environment and will be expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
Banks – Standard bank and FNB trust accounts
  • Searching and receipting of banks daily
  • Matching bank recons daily
  • Checking proof of payments and where funds come from (names of payor)
  • Checking matters to CMS to see if Pending
  • Manually apply amounts to bills
  • Tracing unknown payments
  • Sending out of unclaimed amounts daily
  • Travel Capturing
  • Debit Notes
  • Printing receipts
  • Daily Filing
Sundry
  • Updating of schedule monthly
  • Paying out funds if unknown to clients or fidelity fund/ moving of funds to correct matter
  • Moving unclaimed to Sundry cash payments
Weekly/ Monthly duties
  • Printing of recons for banks
  • Sundry schedule
Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Minimum of 1 year Accounts Clerk related experience
  • Experience working in a Law Firm (Advantageous)
Skills (Know-How Job Related Skills Required to Completed Activities):
  • Knowledge of CMS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of basic numeracy, literacy and accounting skills
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems
