Johan has more than 36 years' experience across the South African tax landscape, including 10 years at SARS. His particular focus is tax dispute resolution, where he assists taxpayers in navigating complex disputes with SARS and finding practical, commercially sensible solutions. His extensive experience and understanding of South Africa's constantly evolving tax environment enable him to assist clients not only when a dispute arises, but also in managing tax risk, structuring transactions and identifying legitimate tax efficiencies.
Johan's approach is informed by:
- more than 36 years' experience across a broad range of tax matters;
- close and continuous engagement with developments in tax legislation, SARS practice and tax jurisprudence;
- a belief that tax advice should ultimately produce a practical and commercially sensible solution; and
- his experience of SARS, both from within the organisation and through many years of engaging with it on behalf of taxpayers.
This combination enables Johan to provide practical, innovative and technically robust tax advice tailored to the particular circumstances of each client. Johan is based in Gauteng and assists clients throughout South Africa and elsewhere in Southern Africa, including Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.
