Africa PORTS & SHIP news [https://lnkd.in/dkunB2KH] has announced the registration of the capsize bulk carrier, the MV CAPE JASMINE, as another addition to the South African Ship Register. The vessel is said to replace the MV CAPE ENTERPRISE, another vessel of VUKA Marine’s fleet that had also been entered under the South African flag.

The CAPE JASMINE is being chartered by Anglo American for trade in iron ore and other freight and so can be expected as a regular visitor to the Port of Saldanda. Not only is the vessel a welcome addition to the Ship Register, but her entry also provides welcome impetus for continued trade out of the Port and importantly the opportunity for local seafarer development.

It is reported that VUKA Marine’s involvement and support goes back over 7 years and has led to five bulk carriers being registered under the SA flag, in addition to providing an opportunity for more than 80 South African seafarers to serve at various times on these vessels.

Despite the challenging economic environment, news of this nature is to be welcomed. It is the impetus and drive of like-minded companies which contribute to opportunities and growth for all.
